Political Beliefs
I know I posted something similar a while back, but since this is the season for presidential election, I feel the need to post again. I am a registered Democrat. I am also a Christian. I don't think that being a Democrat means I can't be a Christian, which I've heard from many people. I am also opposed to abortion under any circumstances as well as people that are lazy and let our government support them. I also, however, KNOW that outlawing abortion isn't going to stop it. If you want to make a difference in our society or in an individual's life, hating them for something or outlawing something isn't going to stop it! I also believe that cutting all government assistance isn't the answer to making people go to work. People that want to work and support themselves and their families are going to do it whether they have to or not. The answer is making the requirements for such assistance more strict and making the people that are able to work actively seek work. There are many ways to monitor such actions. I am not gay. I am happily married to my husband and have been for 6 years. Again, telling someone it's illegal to be gay isn't going to make them suddenly decide to date the opposite sex. You have to love people the way they are in the situations they are in today. As a Christian, I know that I am just as much a sinner as a drug addict is. I do try every day to not make the same mistakes and to be the best wife, mom, daughter, sister, and friend I can be because when I live up to those goals, I'm living more like Christ. Loving someone is the only way to change their lives, but don't love someone because you want them to change...people have to change because they want to. Before you judge someone for their lifestyle or beliefs, realize that being associated with any group...not just Republicans or Democrats...doesn't mean you believe EVERYTHING they say. It means that in that person's heart, they are doing what they believe is the best thing for them and those around them. You are welcome to disagree with me...I know I disagree with a lot of my friends, but it's being hateful that makes you look ignorant and lacking tolerance! I love my friends no matter what they believe and I personally like having friends with different views because it makes things interesting. It's learning to tolerate each other's differences that shows true love and true friendship!
